Meet the Team

Laura Flynn

Provisional Psychologist

Laura adopts an empathetic and intentional therapeutic approach that emphasises warmth, care and connection. Establishing trust and rapport with you is a priority and she views this as enabling a gentle and comfortable environment for you to openly share about yourself. Laura values humour, creativity, and authenticity as a therapist, and integrates these to enhance the counselling experience. During your sessions, she offers structure and brings an analytical and practical perspective, aiming to guide you towards new realms of growth, autonomy and heightened self-awareness.

Laura has previously worked with people across the lifespan and supported people from varied backgrounds presenting with mood concerns, anxiety and stress related difficulties, trauma, substance use, and adjustment to significant life events. She possesses a wealth of experience in work-related injury rehabilitation, and is interested in the dynamic relationship between physical and mental health conditions. Laura firmly advocates for the integration of therapy as a vital component in effectively managing and adapting to chronic illnesses.

Laura incorporates a range of evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy, with each of these approaches tailored to your unique needs and goals.

Currently, Laura is only offering online sessions conducted via video or phone conferencing. Importantly there are many benefits to accessing therapy online (e.g., convenience, comforting and relaxed environment of your own home) and current research suggests, efficacy of telehealth treatment to be equivalent to that of face to face therapy.
