Katrina Yu (Yee Shan Yu)
Accredited Mental Health Social Worker
Katrina is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker dedicated to supporting individuals through life’s challenges with compassion, curiosity, and respect. She is passionate about working with adults as they navigate stress, anxiety, low mood, trauma, life transitions, and other mental health challenges. With experience in public mental health service and statewide transcultural mental health service, she brings comprehensive knowledge and deep insight of how diverse factors impact a person’s wellbeing and resilience.
Katrina’s therapeutic style is warm, grounding, and collaborative. She strives to create a safe and non-judgmental space where clients feel heard, respected, and supported as they explore their experiences. Her approach centres on empowering clients to reconnect with their strengths, build practical coping tools, and create meaningful change that aligns with their values and goals. Katrina works with a strong awareness of cultural diversity, and she deeply values the unique story each client brings into the room.
Her clinical practice draws on evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based interventions, and strength-based frameworks. Katrina adopts a flexible and individualised approach, tailoring each session to the client’s needs, preferences, and cultural context. She supports clients with a wide range of mental health presentations and is committed to delivering care that is trauma-informed and inclusive.
Katrina welcomes clients from all backgrounds and is committed to providing a culturally sensitive and respectful therapeutic environment. She is a native Cantonese speaker and is also fluent in Mandarin.
Katrina currently works in private practice, providing both in-person and online appointments. She looks forward to supporting you on your wellbeing journey.
